Progress sheets and graphs can help build a student's enthusiasm by showing the student how he is improving. Below is a table and two graphs that show how my niece's times improved over a few days for four different types of worksheets.  Even better than a table is a graph. Let the student plot his times on the graph as he completes sheets. This gives practice at graphing, and also shows visually how he is improving.
